On April 8th, 2026, Fruit Haven celebrated its 10-year anniversary — a full decade of growth, learning, challenges, friendship, fruit trees, and dreams planted deep in the Amazon rainforest of Ecuador.

Fruit Haven was founded in 2016 by a small group of Americans who shared a vision of creating a fruit-based ecological community in harmony with nature. What began as an ambitious idea slowly transformed into roads, gardens, orchards, cabins, friendships, and a living experiment in regenerative community life surrounded by one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth.

The name “Fruit Haven” itself has an interesting history. One of the founders was from Connecticut, USA, where city names such as “New Haven” are common. The word “haven” means a safe place, refuge, or sanctuary — a fitting description for the vision of the project. Over the years, some people unfamiliar with that part of the United States have naturally assumed the name was “Fruit Heaven,” which honestly still captures part of the spirit many visitors experience when surrounded by abundant tropical fruits and rainforest beauty.

During these ten years, Fruit Haven has evolved through many stages. There have been seasons of rapid progress and seasons of challenge. Trails became roads, empty land became food forests, and ideas became reality through the work of volunteers, residents, neighbors, and supporters from around the world.

Thousands of fruit trees have been planted. Countless coconuts, bananas, papayas, pineapples, jackfruit, cacao, citrus, and many rare Amazonian fruits have been harvested and shared. Visitors from many countries have come through the community, each leaving their own contribution to the story.

The rainforest itself has always been one of the greatest teachers. Living here requires humility, adaptability, patience, and cooperation with nature’s rhythms. Heavy rains, intense sunshine, insects, wildlife, mud, and abundance all coexist together in a way that constantly reminds us that true sustainability is not just a concept — it is a daily practice.

Looking back at these ten years fills us with gratitude for everyone who helped make Fruit Haven possible: founders, volunteers, builders, gardeners, neighbors, supporters, friends, and families who believed in the vision even in difficult moments.

And this is only the beginning.

As we move forward into the next decade, we are excited for even more growth, regeneration, fruit abundance, ecological restoration, community projects, and meaningful human connection in the Amazon jungle rainforest.

Here’s to the next amazing years of Fruit Haven.
