Community Update: Separation from Former Social Media Managers

At Fruit Haven, we uphold the values of respect, responsibility, and community safety. In light of recent events, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to excommunicate Nik and Sara, a couple who previously managed our social media, due to their continued support of a violent attacker, victim-blaming, and disregard for the well-being of the community.

Despite multiple opportunities and requests to act responsibly—including encouraging the attacker to sell his land and leave peacefully—they instead chose to support and enable his actions, even after two violent incidents. Their behavior has demonstrated a lack of respect and concern for the safety of the community, and they failed to take responsibility in helping maintain peace and security.

Refusal to Engage in Mediation

In an effort to resolve conflicts peacefully, the community offered Nik and Sara the opportunity to participate in a Nonviolent Communication (NVC) session with a mediator from another community. Rather than engage in a dialogue to find a resolution, Nik instead threatened legal action, further demonstrating a refusal to work within the principles of cooperation and mutual understanding that Fruit Haven strives to uphold.

A Shift in FH1 Decision-Making & Social Media Management

In response to ongoing challenges, FH1 has passed a consensus decision to discontinue consensus-based decision-making going forward. This change will help ensure more efficient and effective governance within the community.

Additionally, as FH1 owners originally created and managed the official social media pages and website, a decision has been made to privatize these platforms to better reflect FH1’s direction and values. Since FH3 and FH4 have already gone their own way and manage their own affairs separately, FH1 is now following a similar path.

Fruit Haven is meant to be a space for cooperation, mutual respect, and shared responsibility. We will not tolerate actions that undermine these values or put residents at risk. By standing together, we reaffirm our commitment to a safe, peaceful, and thriving community.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
